Homeschool Hangout happens on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of each month, and is a great time to hang with other homeschool families!

The first hour of Homeschool Hangout will include an optional guided project hosted by one of our instructors, along with all of our regular Tinker Lab activities.

Field Workshop offers daytime academic enrichment for non-traditional learners of all ages.
Register for a single class or a full day! Our a-la-carte enrichment offerings make it easy to supplement your homeschool programming.
All classes are geared towards the non-traditional learner with hands on, multi-sensory activities, small class sizes with experienced educators and real world applications.
Age Recommendations: Classes are geared towards the age range listed, however in most cases, older students can take subjects further and are welcome to register. Please contact us if you have questions.
Student Teachers: For many of our classes, older students can apply to a serve as a Student Teacher!
Student Teachers assist the teacher in set up, clean up, and during class with instruction. Student teachers must be able to attend all classes, arrive 15 minutes before class and stay 15 minutes after class.
This is a volunteer opportunity. Students will gain valuable leadership and educational experience at the same time!

Phonics is one of the five essential components of the science of reading, along with phonemic awareness, fluency, vocabulary, and reading comprehension. Calling all rock enthusiasts to a class all about rocks, gems and crystals! In this rock class we'll go rock hunting, use a rock tumbler to polish our findings, break open geodes, and identify crystals of all sorts! We'll discuss how different rocks are formed, where they can be found, and which ones are MOST valuable! At the end of this class you'll be a true ROCK star and you'll have plenty of cool rocks and crystals to show for it!

Lions Clubs International. Leadership, Experience, Opportunity. That’s what makes a Leo. Members of Leo clubs are devoted young people who realize the power of action. In this class students will work together to develop our very own LEO chapter.
Be on the leadership team. Plan and execute fundraising/service projects with guidance from our Field Workshop Leadership Advisor.

Classes will be held at Field Workshop unless otherwise communicated.
Parents of children age 4+ are welcome to drop students off for their sessions. Students must be fully independent in the bathroom. Parents who wish to remain on the premises may participate in classes if desired, or use a quiet area of our workshop for personal time.
Parents of children under age 4 should remain on the premises.
If your child has a gap of 60 minutes or less between classes, they are welcome to stay at Field Workshop and do work or a quiet activity (no electronics please). The Tinker Lab will not be available during this time, however our staff will help your child find something quiet to do while they wait. You are welcome to send a snack or lunch if desired. If our child has more than 60 minutes between classes we ask that they leave the workshop until their next scheduled session. You may give permission for your child to check in/out on their own, or you may pick your child up after the scheduled class.
Children are welcome to bring a bag lunch to eat between sessions if desired. We will provide time for supervised lunch each day.
Parents are invited to join our Parent Network for community, connection and support. Make friends, compare notes, arrange carpools, set up playdates, share resources and more!
Field Workshop abides by all Wisconsin Homeschool requirements. Our innovative partnership with Greendale Schools and Greendale Park & Rec allows us to provide daytime academic programming and enrichment at an affordable cost. Greendale Schools is not, and at no time will be, directing programming requirements or assuming jurisdiction over any home school.
Q: Can I count the hours my child is in classes at Field Workshop?
A: That depends! If your child's class has children from more than 1 family, then under Wisconsin Homeschool Law, you may not count those hours. Some of our classes run with only 1 child or family unit - in this case those hours CAN be counted towards your total hours.
Wisconsin Homeschool Law requires 875 hours of single family instruction per year. With over 5,800 waking hours in a single year, meeting this requirement can be easily met, even with regular group outings, field trips, and other multi-family experiences. Ultimately it is the responsibility of each Homeschool Administrator to determine how to best meet this requirement.
